Our experience with Nikon D5300 Camera Review found the company has showcased the camera in different color variants. You can choose the best color you want from available variants like black, red and grey. The camera features increased 24.2 Megapixel resolution with Expeed 4 image processing engine.

By comparison, the Nikon D5300 essentially has articulated LCD display, better physical control than its predecessor D3200. But it falls well below the rank of D7100 which has twin dial interface and better Autofocus system. This should not be a big issue because it’s a beginner’s level DSLR.

The company says the Nikon D5300 has highly improved optical technology without low pass filter. This is a great feature because it increases the high pixel count resolution. Besides, it also offers enhanced video mode with 1080/60p High Definition capability. The vari-angle wide 3.2-inch LCD proved very handy while taking shots from any angle without any hassle. Therefore, you would like it.

Design and Build of Nikon D5300 : Review

In the above sections, we have covered a brief overview and key features and specifications. Discussing full features and specifications would surely make the list long. Also our reader too might want to have a look at a a very few important features.

While taking Nikon D5300 Camera Review, we have kept our reader’s interest in mind and published only the key features.

With the Nikon D5300 in your hand, you will not get disappointed when it comes to its design and control. The camera is built with polycarbonate material and looks solid.

When we tried the camera, we felt like a little more improvement could have been done in navigation control.

The camera is designed keeping in mind the target group from among the entry level users. You will find it easy to move active focus point with its four way controller on its back. We had a very good experience with its fully articulated LCD screen in Live View and movie shooting.

While button placement is well organized, we had expected the Nikon D5300 would offer more buttons to play around. Nevertheless, we could make setting adjustments on screen. This also decreased the speed while operating.

If you compare D5300 with its sibling D5200, obviously former gives better feel in operation. The only difference we have noticed is D5300 has extra ports for stereo mic and GPS and Wi-Fi icons.

It is also worth mentioning here that the camera offers HDMI and USB/AV port. It also has come with front and rear receivers for ML-L3 wireless remote.

There is an ‘I’ button on the left side of the viewfinder that lets you access important parameters in ‘Q’ menu. Similarly, there are Autoexposure button and Autofocus button placed on the same side. These buttons are used to lock exposure and focus during shooting.

We did not find any difference in the placement of menu button between D5300 and its sibling D5200. Sure, you would love to hit ‘OK’ button coupled with four way controller to navigate menus in the camera and set shooting parameters.

Looking at the full body of the camera, we found the drive mode button at the top of the Nikon D5300 was not there anymore. Yes, it has found itself new location at the front of the camera. The articulated LCD, off course, has a lot to offer for vari-angle shooting and video shot.

Overall, the design and build of the Nikon D5300 is quite well, though constructed with plastic material. It’s compact, all buttons are well placed and easily accessible. Being an entry level DSLR, it is very well justified with its design, look and build.

Performance of Nikon D5300 : Review

Any one who is writing or reading the Nikon D5300 Camera Review, and may also want to buy the camera, would off course want to know the performance of the device. That’s where we bring the full details of the performance based on our Nikon D5300 Camera Review.

Indeed, performance is the most important aspect related to any device in question. As an end user, we must be interested to look at the performance of the camera before making buying decision. Our experience in respect to performance of the Nikon D5300 has been fine.

If you look at the overall performance of the camera, D5300 does not differ much from its sibling D5200. Response of the camera is fairly quick when you access menu options, zoom in zoom out or change shooting mode. But  you would need to deep dive into the main menu for better control over operation like distortion, auto ISO etc.

The Nikon D5300 as we have seen offers 39, including 9 cross type Autofocus system. This is, though not outstanding, has pretty good speed and accuracy covering major part of the purposes.

Therefore, in very low light, you may not like its behavior when it displays that the scene is in focus while it actually is not.

The ISO range is an important feature of the camera. The Nikon D5300 comes with the ISO sensitivity range of 100-12800, expandable to 25,600. Our experience in shooting with different ISO value has been fairly good, especially at its highest mark.

Images produced with the expanded ISO sensitivity did not loose all details. They have pretty well controlled noise even in darker areas of the images produced.

Looking at the quality of images produced by the D5200 at the ISO level of 3200 or more, we found there is significant loss of details in darker areas of the picture. Also, it was not very appealing in terms of size while viewing and printing.

The picture taken with the D5300 at the same level of ISO has much better quality. We, especially focused on those areas. It did not have similar kind of problem. Noise is maintained well under control and so the color and so is the color and texture of the image.

When we took shot at the ISO level of 400 with the D5300, we did have some luminance noise in our images on 100% onscreen view mode, but there is no major effect on normal view and print size.

We further pushed up the ISO sensitivity value to 12,800 to see if there is more noise as compared to our last ISO value. Undoubtedly, images produced at this value have more noise some loss of details at 100% onscreen view. But we cannot discredit the whole quality of images produced.

Even at expanded ISO setting of 25,600, we could find reasonably useable images. But with reduced saturation and loss of details, we would prefer to avoid taking shot at this level of ISO unless there is an utmost emergencies.

With the Nikon D530, you have two speeds in burst shooting mode i. e. high and low. While you can have continuous focus with both modes – high and low, with high continuous mode it can produce JPEG only image at 5fps burst rate. At low continuous mode it did produce images at 3 fps burst rate.

Coming to the performance the of the camera with its battery life, the Nikon D5300 lets you take 600 shots per single charge. It is 100 shots more than its sibling D5200. Even setting the Wi-Fi on did not significantly affect the performance of the battery life.

Overall, if you are planning to purchase the D5300 or already bought one, it will not disappoint you with its performance. It did produce appealing pictures with fine color tone and texture. Even in landscape mode, it did produce very good results.

Most importantly, can apply creative filter mode depending on your taste.

Conclusion : Review

The Nikon D5300 comes with 24.3 megapixel resolution and 39 points AF system of which 9 are cross type. It is a lightweight camera and easy to carry around. The 3.2-inch articulating LCD display and built-in Wi-Fi speak very well of the camera. It has simple layout control and easy and quick to access settings. So, you don’t need put hard work on it.

Though it does not offer touchscreen LCD, you would not find much wrong with the D5300. It did deliver very good picture. Video quality is as good as higher version DSLR’s. Our experience with battery life has been quite good.

Whether you are an absolute beginners or have little hands-on experience, you would find this a very good option with all the features available that you might be looking for. There is nothing much to complain bout in ISO performance and burst mode shooting. It did fairly well in all fronts.
