Design and Build of Nikon D7200 : Review

The Nikon D7200 will not let you disappointed with its design and build. The body of the camera is sturdy and composed of magnesium alloy. It also has weather protection seal, you can rest assured even when weather is unpleasant or adverse while shooting.

Indeed, the camera is enthusiast DSLR and all buttons are very well placed within ease of reach. The efforts and hard work put by Nikon is clearly visible with its look and feel. The camera’s look and feel does match the high-end more expensive DSLR model.

Through the Nikon D7200 Camera Review, we did discovered many things, but we did not find anything wrong with the grip because it has soft textured coating on the front and rear that let you hold the camera with good comfort.

Dedicated Autofocus assist lamp, DOF preview button and customizable Fn button are placed at the front of the camera. There are other buttons and switches such as flash, bracketing etc. are put on the left beside the front. All ports of the camera like mini HDMI, I/O ports, mic input, mini USB, headphone etc. are covered with rubber flaps are systematically arranged on the left side of the camera.

Going over the top left of the camera you will find mode dial with different options including custom settings. There is a drive mode in the second dial which is placed under the mode dial. You will have to use lock button while playing around the mode dial so you don’t make any setting changes accidently.

We are sure, you will appreciate how easily you can access all buttons of the Nikon D7200, though you will need to use your both hands when camera is in operation. You can easily access AF selection button and AF/M switch with your thumb as these are placed behind the lens mount. It also worth mentioning that you can still keep on concentrating while accessing these buttons.

There is an ‘I’ button on the bottom left corner of the camera the back. You can use this button as quick menu button to make certain changes in settings. You found this a very useful button when changing settings for image area, picture control and so on.

With the Nikon D7200, we were right there to find the Live View button on the right side at the back of the camera. A switch that facilitates the movement between still images and video shooting also sophistically placed around the same area.

The built-in Wi-Fi feature is lets you quickly transfer your images from camera to your smartphone or compatible smart devices. You will love it because you have the option to share these images on email or social media. But it would have been better had the Wi-Fi enable button been more visible and included in the ‘I’ menu.

Overall, we are very much content with the design and build of the camera and its button placement. There no hassle accessing these buttons. These are well within the reach of your thumb and fingers.

Performance of Nikon D7200 : Review

As an end user we are always interested to see the performance of the camera. The Nikon D7200 obviously is an enthusiast camera and thus our expectations are also high. Now let us shift our focus to the performance the camera. Our Nikon D7200 Camera Review is based on actual user experience and review.

The performance the camera in terms of automatic white balance pretty well. We did not find anything wrong when shooting in different light conditions. So does it well in daylight as well as cloudy conditions.

Setting custom white balance is what is we found especially useful when shooting in artificial light and produce image with maximum accuracy. By comparison, the burst rate of the D7200 is far richer than its predecessor D7100. The EXPEED 4 image processing engine with the camera is well equipped to produce better results.

With D7100, buffer would be completely full after we could have shot only few seconds of JPEG, while D7200 offers greater window of capturing nearly 50 JPEG shots which equivalent to 9 seconds of shooting time before buffer is completely full. Therefore, you don’t miss any opportunity to get action.

For those who love shooting or video recording for relatively longer time, the camera has come with an impressive battery life. You can use your camera to take 1100 shots and 80 minutes of video recording per single charge, without the battery being drained out.

The ultimate result we want to see is the image quality. The D7200 has the ISO sensitivity of 100-25,600 and does not have low pass filter. With 24.2 Megapixel coupled with EXPEED 4 image processor, the image quality produced by the camera quite appealing. You will not get disappointed with it.

Furthermore, since the camera is thrown in the market place targeting the enthusiast photographers, it expected that it should be capable of handling shooting different subjects in different conditions. It did meet hose expectations well like other pro DSLR camera.

We did shoot few images in the good light conditions, the color and appearance is quite amazing. There is not a bit of loss in its color tone and originality. Even in the picture taken in relatively weaker light conditions the quality was visible in terms of details.

We also did not find anything wrong with the images shot at 100- 200 ISO value on 100% onscreen view. At the ISO level of 12,800 and above, digital grain was visible though the camera handled it well.

If you are shooting raw images, you would surely need use image editor or Nikon’s application that is compatible with the camera. This lets you set the color and tone of the image by removing digital noise, grain and to keep the details.

Conclusion : Review

The Nikon D7200 comes with improved AF feature coupled with EXPEED 4 image processor. This gives it a higher spot in the DSLR line up as compared to its predecessor. There is a great upgrade in the sensor when it comes to dynamic range. Performance of Autofocus system in lower light and continuous shooting buffer makes it perfect instrument for subject tracking.

Autofocus is slow in live view and aperture control is not excellent in video shooting. But it’s and excellent camera for shooting still images. Design and build quality is solid with magnesium alloy material and all buttons sophistically placed within the reach of your thumb and fingers.

With great improvement in battery life, 24.3 Megapixel sensor and better shutter speed, Nikon D7200 makes it ideal enthusiast photographer camera. Having said that we encourage our users to thoroughly study the Nikon D7200 Camera Review before buying
