Nikon has come up with another full frame DSLR camera with the model D750. This version of DSLR also looks like D610 but has improved features. In other words, we can say it’s an upgraded version of D610. It’s pretty enough to say that it has found its slot between the D610 and D810 with few features sharing with the both.

With both the model available below and above the enthusiast photographers have the other options to choose from. Featuring with tilting screen, by far better video and greater image quality, the D750 does have capability to beat its competitor from its own league and from the other league of DSLR such as the Canon.

The combination of 24.3MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 processing engine is good fit to pick the ISO range of 100-12800 that can be extended to 50-51200. Not only this feature is great, you can also shoot at 6.5 frames per second record full HD video at up to 60p.

By any standard 6.5 fps is a good rate, if you are a seasoned sports photographer, you might want fps rate to have up to 8 or even beyond that. But that also means you will have to shell more money and it will pinch more n your pocket to have the camera with this feature.

Nikon D750 comes with built-in microphone. This will help reduce external noise while shooting. If your interest lies in videography as a hobby or profession, you will love the stereo microphone and headphone ports designed to achieve the maximum audio quality while shooting video.

It is always a pleasure to have an HDMI connectivity that lets you produce quality video footage without file compression on external devices. The camera also has built-in Wi-Fi/NFC connectivity that really speeds up the transfer of images to other compatible devices and social media platform. The Wireless Mobile Utility App offered by Nokia comes in handy to remotely control the camera using smartphone.

While there is no denial that it’s a full frame camera with ample professional features and also posses other features such as Picture Control system which is the property of Nikon D810, its target audience has also been enthusiast photographers as it has similar control layout that D610 and D7200 have.

The Nikon D750 gives you many Special Effect modes like, Selective Color, Night Vision, Miniature Effect, Color Sketch, Silhouette, High Key and Low Key. As a professional photographer or even enthusiast photographer, you can apply these effects to stills and movies.

Design and Build of Nikon D750 : Review

We so far looked at a brief introduction, key features and specifications, let us now shift our focus on how the camera is designed and built. The in-depth Nikon D750 Camera Review, we believe answer this all.

While looking at the first site, the D750 looks pretty much similar to D610, its construction is much better with light weight. Keeping in mind to make the camera to weigh lighter, it’s made with the combination of magnesium alloy and carbon fiber.

Much efforts have ben made to make the camera feel comfortable in your hand. It’s light weight and do not make you feel tired even if you are shooting for a long. What has been impressive and most advantageous feature is its dust and weather protection seal similar to that of D810.

Many of you who have already used D610 would find it very easy to use and handle because sit hares the more or less similar control layout. On the top left of the camera lies the mode dial with effects. That makes it easy to access Special Effect modes. There is also a lock button on the dial and you will need to press to get it rotated.

Other buttons included on the top of the camera are metering button, movie recording, exposure compensation, shutter release and so on. You can use the LCD screen placed at the top as reference guide for shooting mode, drive mode, image quality, battery life etc. The tilting screen is really useful for video recording and shooting at low/high angle, fixed screen does not offer that.

Looking at the back of the camera, here also the layout looks pretty similar to that of D610. But the main differentiation is the info button is placed on the side of the thumb rest while it is placed at the bottom of the D610. You will find the live view button and switch down under.

The ‘i’ button placed on the lower left at rear of the camera has certain functionality. You press this button once, a list of items pops up which is shown in the list view. There are a few buttons in the list namely, Assign Fn button and Assign preview button which did not find proper placement. This is beyond our understanding.

It is also very undesirous to mix up ‘i’ button with info button, because info button lists out the camera’s key settings. This is fine when we want to make certain adjustments during shooting. We found the field preview Fn buttons placed at the front very useful to adjust aperture when we did video shooting.

Needless to say, as every DSLR camera has an optical viewfinder, the D750 comes with optical viewfinder to capture images with greater details. The optical viewfinder of this unit has 100% depth of field coverage.

Almost all control buttons and layout are ideally placed in the Nikon D750. These are all easy to access. In other words, you really do not need ponder to reach these controls. But since certain grey areas are bound to find place in every article, coupling ‘i’ and ‘Info’ buttons could have been well avoided.

The camera comes with 51 Autofocus points of which 15 are cross -type Autofocus points. If you would want to use telephoto lenses, the cross -type autofocus pints are useful because they give you more sensitivity. While shooting small subjects and background is distracting, Group Area Autofocus mode is of great help.

Performance of Nikon D750 : Review

The Nikon D750 Camera Review does not come to an end here. As an end user, you would undoubtedly want to know about the performance of the camera before buying. Keeping this in mind, we have done performance analysis of the device bases on our practical experience.

In the forgoing paragraphs, we have talked about features and specification, we have talked about build and design. Now it’s time to contemplate on the performance of the camera. The Nikon D705 is a full frame professional camera, beyond any doubt sharing certain features with its higher sibling.

Even if you are not a professional photographer or simply put enthusiast photographer, you would want take variety of pictures in different conditions. You still want the images taken by you to be of great quality with all the details; natural color, perfect exposure, controlled noise and so on. Yea ! You have the D750 in your hand that will not let you down.

The camera comes with the combination of 91,000 pixel RGB sensor metering system and 51 autofocus point system. This allows you to track subjects from all angle. Apart from that the camera also has face detection system when you are shooting with the viewfinder. This is a great feature when we have priority over closer subjects.

The camera offers 3D color matrix metering system which is good feature to reckon with. We did not find anything wrong with this metering system. It did performed well when shooting extremely bright subjects. But that did not take away the requirement for exposure compensation in certain occasion.

The automatic white balance system with the camera did the job quite well in a variety of shooting conditions. Sometimes, we experienced change of color in the sequence of images when using automatic white balance settings. But that is not a matter of big bother.

The built-in Wi-Fi connectivity is a very good proposition. This lets you remotely control the camera via smartphone. One of the limiting factor, however, is its Wireless Mobile Utility app that doesn’t have impressive control.

Although we can see live view on the smartphone screen and set autofocus point on the screen, control over the exposure settings is totally amiss.

The D705 presents the same 3.2inch tilting LCD screen with 1229K dots as the D810 has. If you are looking to shoot movies and still images from different angles with comfort, you should give it a try. The display doesn’t disappoint you as it has the capability of showing images with every bit of details.

Coming to the performance with the battery life, the D720 did a fair job. With EN-EL15 Li-ion battery, we could manage to shoot 1230 shots with single charge. However, using flash every time while shooting may drastically reduce the battery life.

As we are talking about the performance of the camera, we would also like touch upon its performance in terms of ISO sensitivity. The ISO measures the sensitivity of the camera’s image sensor to the light. If ISO value is set to low, the sensitivity of the camera is less to light and produces finer grain.

Although the D750 doesn’t match all qualities owned by the D810, it is immensely powerful when it comes to controlling the noise level. We shot a few raw images at the ISO level of 400 and processed these files to the extent of chroma noise visible at 100% on screen view. This was negligible.

To further test the quality of images produced by the camera and the noise control capability, we pushed up the ISO level to 12,800 which is the highest level by default. At this level, however, we did find prominent chroma noise at 100% on screen view. This doesn’t mean that noise was not controlled, rather it was controlled pretty well with impressive details.

Pushing the ISO level further up to the maximum expended value of 51,200 did loose dynamic range and details to certain extent. But it was not that much disappointing too, we rather we had good results.

While writing the Nikon D750 Camera Review, the overall performance of the camera was found to be pretty well in every aspect except for the little loss of details at higher ISO settings.

Conclusion : Review

The Nikon D750 DSLR is a full frame professional camera that is also a very good proposition for enthusiast photographers. It presents top notch sensor and autofocus system that also almost as good as its higher sibling the D810 has. It also wins the heart of its users by giving responsive continuous shooting mode and video quality.

While as every instrument has certain imitations, it also has few flaws but this could easily be the case of least concern by the majority of photographers. Indeed, given the goodness of the camera, there is nothing much to ponder about.

The Nikon D750 with certain features aimed at less experienced photographer is the perfect camera for professional as well as enthusiast photographers.
